1. Who we are
cssavante is a freelance web design and development practice operated by Jordan Foster as a sole trader, based in Southsea, Hampshire, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, cssavante is the "data controller" for personal data collected through this website.
Contact: hello@cssavante.com
2. What data we collect
- Contact form: your name, email address, and any project details you choose to share via the enquiry form on the Contact page.
- We do not currently use cookies, analytics, or third-party tracking scripts on this site.
3. How your data is handled
Contact form submissions are processed and stored by Netlify, our website hosting provider, so we can read and respond to your enquiry.
This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Loading a font requires your browser to request the font file from Google's servers, which may log your IP address as part of standard web server activity.
4. Why we process it (legal basis)
We process contact form data on the basis of legitimate interest — responding to enquiries about our services — and, where you go on to instruct us, to take steps toward a contract with you.
5. How long we keep it
Enquiry and project correspondence is kept for as long as reasonably necessary to manage our working relationship, and to meet any legal, accounting, or tax obligations, after which it is deleted.
6. Sharing your data
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data may be shared with service providers who help run this website (currently Netlify), or where necessary to comply with the law.
7. Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you
- ask us to correct or delete it
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
- request a copy of your data in a portable format
- withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis for processing
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@cssavante.com.
8. Complaints
If you're unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
9. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version will always be posted on this page.
Terms & Conditions
1. About these terms
These terms apply to any project undertaken by cssavante (Jordan Foster, trading as cssavante), a sole trader based in Southsea, Hampshire, UK, for a client. By engaging cssavante, you agree to these terms alongside anything agreed separately in a quote, proposal, or contract for your specific project.
2. Services
cssavante provides freelance web design and development services, including custom website builds, Shopify theme development, and related design work, as agreed on a per-project basis.
3. Quotes & payment
- Project costs are agreed in advance via a written quote or proposal.
- A 50% deposit is required to begin work, with the remaining 50% due on completion, before final files or site access are handed over. For larger projects, payment may instead be split across agreed milestones.
- Invoices are due within 14 days of final handover. Payments overdue by more than 14 days may incur a late fee of 5% of the outstanding balance per month.
4. Project process
Projects proceed in stages (discovery, design, build, review, launch) as agreed with the client. Timelines depend on the client providing requested content, feedback, and approvals promptly; delays on the client's part may affect delivery dates.
5. Revisions
Two rounds of revisions are included at each project stage. Additional revisions beyond this are billed at an hourly rate, agreed with the client in advance.
6. Intellectual property
- Once a project is paid in full, ownership of the final delivered website or store design transfers to the client.
- cssavante retains the right to showcase completed work in its portfolio (including the Work page of this site) unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Any third-party assets used (stock photography, fonts, plugins, apps) remain subject to their own licences.
7. Hosting & third-party platforms
Where a project is built on a third-party platform (e.g. Shopify, Netlify), the client is responsible for their own account and ongoing platform or subscription fees, unless otherwise agreed.
8. Liability
cssavante will carry out work with reasonable care and skill but does not guarantee specific business outcomes (e.g. sales, traffic, or search rankings) resulting from a website or store build. cssavante's liability for any claim arising from a project is limited to the amount paid by the client for that project.
9. Cancellation
If a client cancels before work begins, the deposit is refunded in full. Once work has begun, the deposit becomes non-refundable, as it covers time already committed to the project. Work cancelled partway through is billed for the portion completed.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
